Card type
Event
A one-shot from hand. Counter Events can be played during a battle to swing the numbers.
- What it does
- A spell. You play it, it does the text, it goes to the trash. Counter Events are your mid-battle answers.
- When you play it
- Main-phase Events on your turn. Counter Events when you are in a battle and the card says Counter — usually after attackers and blockers are in.
- Beginner trap
- Forgetting Counter cards in hand and taking a life you could have saved, or paying DON!! for a Counter you no longer have standing.
Events do not stay on the board. That is the whole point: a burst of cards, extra power, a KO, a search. Read the trigger word. Main, Counter, and Trigger are different doors.
Counter Events are how you survive. During a battle you may play one (or more, if you can pay) to raise your power or KO the attacker. They cost DON!! too — if you attached every DON!! as power, you may have nothing left to Counter with.
Trigger is the text that fires when a life card flips face-up. Not every Event has it. A Trigger that KOs or draws can swing a game you were losing.
You do not have to play an Event the turn you draw it. Holding a Counter is often correct. Beginners dump their hand and then get swung at with nothing to say.
